Excellence Evidence: PALs
Today I had my PALs duty. Only two people turned up (including me). It was fun and it was hard getting the students to listen. We did some relays and then we played 'Tricky Tag'. There were Year 4 students playing football so I asked them to be careful. I think the children enjoyed it and they carried on played Octopus after we had finished. The thing I enjoyed most was playing with the students. There were lots of students playing and I'm looking forward to 2 weeks later.

Excellence Evidence: Librarian
Today I had my Librarian duty. Nobody from my group turned up (except me). I did all the work by myself and it was hard. There weren't many students in the library. Lots of students got books out today. I was reading a book while I was waiting there because sitting down can get very boring. I enjoyed being in a quite space for a while. After I finished I went onto the field and played football with my friends. I enjoy being a Librarian because I get to meet other students.

Excellence Evidence: Peer Mediation
Today I had my Peer Mediation duty. One of them was 10 minutes late because he had a Kapahaka meeting. There were no problems that we had to solve but there were year 3 students who came onto the senior side and just stood in the goals/rugby post and a student got hit by a ball so we took him to the duty teacher. We went around and around the field. The Peer Mediators on the courts came onto the field. So we told them that we were on field duty. After we finished I went straight to Basketball Training.

Excellence Evidence: PALs
Today I had PALs on. My duty day has been permanently to changed to Wednesday (odd weeks). I was on Kakano duty and all the children wanted to play Octopus. We had turns being in and some children volunteered to be in. Some children got tagged but pretended that they didn't get tagged, so the game got a bit longer. Then we played played Duck, Duck, Goose for the last few minutes. I enjoyed playing with the children. After that I went on the field and played football with my friends.

Excellence Evidence: PALs
Today I had my PALs duty. This time I was on Kakano duty. I couldn't do it in the first part because I had violin practise. So they started off playing Tricky Tag and then slightly after I came they changed to Octopus for 5 minutes and then we ended up playing another round of Tricky Tag. I reminded 2 of them but only 1 of the people I reminded turned up which is very disappointing. I joined in with the Kakano students. The thing I enjoyed the most is that we get to teach the students games that they might not have known before. I enjoy Kauri duty more than Kakano duty. I enjoy being part of PALs although it takes up your time you still can join in the game and have fun with the students.

Excellence Evidence: Peer Mediation
Today I had my Peer Mediation duty. Someone (I'm not allowed to tell the name) asked if he could join because he had Peer Mediation duty on the second half of lunch and he had nothing to do so we let him join. There was only one conflict today where someone bit someone on the hand so we told Mr Ladbrook and he solved the conflict. There no one who got hit in the head with a ball because today no one was allowed to use large balls like soccerballs and basketballs. So there was no basketball training at lunchtime. After Peer Mediation finished I went inside the classroom and started reading a book which didn't take long to finish.

Today I had my Librarian duty. All of them turned up apart from Tim who was sick and didn't come to school. I did the renewing, returning and issuing. I read a book while I was waiting for the students to renew, return and issue their book. I have renewed 3 books, returned about 10 books and issued about 5 books. I also helped putting away the books at the start. I enjoy being a Librarian and being able to renew, return and issue the books. After it finished I played basketball with my friends.

Excellence Evidence: At Technology and on the bus
Today I was almost late for school but I just made it to school on time. The bus that I go on came when the bell went (the 9 a.m. bell) and we were late for Technology. We waited outside for 15 minutes and waited in the hall foyer for 5 minutes. On the way I talked softly to the person beside me. At Lincoln Primary School I cut out the wood for my project and glued the side pieces onto the back piece. I helped someone sanding his box. Next week I need to get my edges trimmed off and start painting. I enjoyed Technology today because I got a lot done in that shortened time.

Excellence Evidence: Being A Role Model For The Students In The Kakano Team
Today our school had Student Led Conferences so we had lunchtime earlier. After lunch we had a assembly. The standing up and sitting down was good because most times some people are talking. I received my 'Merit Badge' (which I should have got ages ago). The students sitting behind me (year 7 students who weren't being a good role model) were talking basically throughout the whole assembly. I told them to stop talking but they didn't listen and kept talking. So I told Mr Brown after assembly finished. I enjoyed school finishing early because I had an extra hour after school.

Excellence Evidence: PALs
Today we went onto the field to organise a game of football, but there weren't any balls. So Jake said "We should organise a game of cricket", but the weren't any wickets. So we went onto the courts and decided to organise a game of Basketball. There were some students who played and we had enough to play full-court. At about 20 past 1 Mr Ladbrook came and asked if he could join in, so we let him play for the team that was losing (the losing team was losing by a mile). I couldn't keep count of the score. I enjoyed referring the game but it sometimes got tiring going up and down the court.

Excellence Evidence: At Technology and on the bus
Today was the day where all of the Year 7/8 students come to school by half past 8 and go on a bus to Lincoln Primary School to do learning. I'm in Hard Materials right now. In Hard Materials we make speaker boxes. I am up to cutting out the wood for my box. The thing that I enjoy is that the teacher does most of the work and we just plan, glue and paint. The thing that is hard is that there is only one teacher and the that we'll need to wait a very long time to get help. I like that this year we get another topic. I like Hard Materials because it is sometimes hard and challenging.

Excellence Evidence: Peer Mediation
Today I had my Peer Mediation duty. I had to remind Jack because he was on the field starting to play soccer with his friends. So we walked on the half-muddy field waiting for someone to come to us so they could solve a conflict. There were no one with a problem. So we just walked and walked and walked for 20 minutes and it was very tiring. When it was 10 past 1 I had to go to Basketball Training. I really don't like it when you've got something at the same time as something else (e.g. having Peer Mediation duty on the same time as PALs duty).

Today I had my Librarian duty. I told two of them but they thought it was next week so we went and checked the roster. We were on every even week. All of them turned up. Tim and I entered the James Patterson book reading thing (the school who reads the most James Patterson books gets a prize) and the other two issued and returned the book. I returned my overdue books and got 'I Funny' book out which is a book that James Patterson wrote. I started reading it. At 20 past 1 we closed the library and I went and played football with my friends.

Yesterday I had to do my Peer Mediation duty. One of them is always late or sometimes doesn't turn up and just makes an excuse. Yesterday there weren't any problems on the field. Which is a very good thing. But walking around the field gets quite boring. I find it really annoying when people come up and say they have a problem when they can solve it themselves (e.g. yesterday someone said that they had a problem and the problem was that the other team was beating the 3-0 in football). It is annoying because it just wastes our time. When it was 10 past 1 I went to Basketball Training.

Excellence Evidence: Get Involved
Today I had to do three tests because I had a reading in the morning and I had to do my reading test and after morning-tea I had a maths test to do but I had my ICAS Science test at the same time. I think I did very well in the test and I think I only got about 7 questions wrong (out of 40). From our class it was only 4 people including me who did the ICAS Science test. I have my ICAS English and my ICAS Maths test left. I had to catch up on my maths test after lunch because I couldn't do it in that time. I enjoy doing the ICAS tests because they are all multiple choice questions.

Excellence Evidence: Kauri Team Events
On Fridays most of the Years 5-8 go on a bus to Nunweek or Hagley Park. I play for the Yr 7/8 Hockey B Team so I went to Nunweek Park. Today we had only 6 players because some of them weren't here or they forgot to bring gear. So we had to borrow someone from the 7/8 Hockey A Team. We played Sumner and we lost 1-11. I almost scored a goal and almost got hit in the face. They didn't have an adult with them so Mrs P had to do all of the refereeing. Player of the Day was Jacob. Then we heading back to school and played a quick game of bang with the other students.

Excellence Evidence: Librarian
Today I had Librarian duty. The others were late and one of them weren't at school. I did the scanning. I had to scan the books that were returned and the books that someone wanted to borrow. The library was very, very quiet because many students were outside playing games. The weather was really great and I liked the weather as well and that's why I think the library was quieter than usual. After that I went out and played football with my friends. I really enjoyed my lunch and hopefully the others turn up earlier next time.
