Merit Evidence: PALs
Today it was a day when the winter sport teams go to Hagley or Nunweek Park. But I had to stay because I had to leave early so I wasn't late for the Christchurch Schools' Music Festival audition. So I decided to help the students on PALs because some of them went to sport. At lunchtime we organised and played a game of football and about 8 people turned up. It was fun and some people left at 1:20. But we had enough people to play with. I enjoyed it and I hope that the people on duty turn up at the right place at the right time.

Merit Evidence: PALs
Today I had PALs duty. I had to change to another day because I had Winter Sport on Fridays.
There were only 3 people who turned up today. We organised a game of Monster Octopus, this went very well and we had about 30 students wanting to play the game. We played 3 rounds of that, but we had some time left so we played Tricky Tag. I joined in the games and I enjoyed it, so, I'm guessing that the students enjoyed it as well. We didn't have any Pozi's but it was still okay. I wish I could do this every week.

Peer Mediation
11 May 2015
Merit Evidence: Peer Mediation
Today was my duty so I went onto the field to get my friend who had forgotten.
So me and my friend went around the field looking for conflict to help them be nice to each other.
No one needed help so it was great. It is boring being a Peer Mediator but it gets less boring when someone has conflict for us to solve. The thing I enjoy about Peer Mediation is that you get to know the different types of conflict students from Years 1-8 can have and learning how to solve the conflict. I think it is the students responsibility to remember to turn up so we didn't tell the group after us, and I know someone from that group who didn't turn up.

Merit Evidence: Peer Mediation
On Monday I couldn't do my duty because I had Basketball Training, so I asked Ye-Joon to do my duty and I'll do his on Thursday. So today I didn't forget and did Peer Mediation.
I enjoyed it but I think it was sort of a waste of time because a kid came up and said that a girl had kicked him but for 15 minutes we tried to find the girl but we couldn't.
I recommended that they give up after 7 minutes but they didn't. But did 2 laps of the field and went in the senior area. I hope Basketball Training is not on Mondays but on a day when I don't have Peer Mediation duty.

Merit Evidence: PALs
Today I was only PALs for the Kakano students. Cody and I had to remind the others because they didn't know it was their day. We were going to play Octopus but only one person turned up. So we played 'Tag'. At about 12:10 he got tired and so did we. I went over to the Kauri side of the field and played with the people who were on PALs duty for the Kauri students. We played 'Capture The Flag'. Then when the game ended I went to play football with my friends. I enjoyed it but being on PALs duty for the Kauri students is more fun because students do come. Today I learnt that plans don't always happen as you have expected.

Playing Football With Different Goals
29 April 2015
Merit Evidence: Being A Role Model For The Students In The Kakano Team
Yesterday at lunchtime me and my friends went onto the field to play football. The weather wasn't that good in the morning. One of the goals were coned so we couldn't use them. So instead of going onto the Kakano Students side of the field, we used the gap between rooms 3 and 4.
It worked out just as good. We all had fun and didn't injurer anyone (we could have if we played on their side of the field). The Kakano Students sometimes comes over to our side but, I hope they don't because we didn't.

Merit Evidence: Peer Mediation
Today I turned up to my Peer Mediation duty. Emma didn't turn up (don't ask me why).
So Jack and I went onto the field. We didn't see or hear anyone arguing about anything. If there was a problem it would have been near the senior playground (my opinion). It is interesting watching the juniors play games because they all play different games. Seniors play similar games. Next week I hope Emma turns up and that we get to solve a problem. I enjoy being a Peer Mediator and I think that all of the Year 7/8's should be a Peer Mediator at least 99% of them.

Merit Evidence: PALs
Yesterday was my PALs duty. I had a basketball meeting to go to. But PALs was on the 2nd half of lunch. For PALs Cody decided to play netball. Only the senior girls and a boy came to play. About 5 minutes later more girls came to play, so we reset teams. I had to play because the people who came to play was an odd number. Cody forgot to bring the Pozi's, so he ran inside the classroom and got a few Pozi's. The game wasn't that long. I think the game could have been a bit longer. Then I played basketball with Jak C. I enjoyed PALs because we got to organise a game without the teacher helping us.

Helping in the Library
27 March 2015
Merit Evidence: Help Out Around The School
Yesterday, as a librarian, I helped Mrs Ward get the fiction books in the cloakbay of the new library onto the shelves. Dominic, two younger children and I all helped. We had to move about 500 books. It was a hard job but we moved the books in a short time. Tim and Jacob didn't turn up, if they did it would have been moved in half the time it took us. It was tiring as well. I enjoyed putting the books on the shelves because it wasn't hard. The hard part was getting the books off the shelf in the cloakbay. I was happy to help out. Then I went and played football with my friends.

Run, Bike, Run
21 March 2015
Merit Evidence: Get Involved, Kauri Team Events
Yesterday the Kauri Team went to the Halswell Domain for the annual run, bike, run.
When the 11 o'clock bell got ready to go to the Halswell Domain. It was about 20 past 11 when we went out of Brenda Place to Halswell Domain. The walk was long but we finally got there.
Then the Year 4's had their race. While they were doing their race the Year 7/8's played games that the house captains organised. We got to choose out of Bang, Paper Scissors Rock, or Tricky Tag. Finally it was the Year 7/8's race. I entered the individual race. The bike was harder than last year. I came 7th. I felt proud of myself because I came in the top 10.

Merit Evidence: Peer Mediation
Today I was on Peer Mediation duty on the 1st half of lunch. After I ate my lunch I went and got
Jack W and Emma D because they didn't turn up. Then we walked around the field to help solve problems. Then and student came up and said that someone was tried to hit him and his friends with a hammer, so Jack W went to get a duty teacher to solve the problem. The duty teacher wanted us to stay there so that she knew what we were talking to the student about. So the hammer was confiscated. We filled out the form and then we switched over to the next people.
I enjoyed it because finally someone came because they had a problem.

Yesterday Cody, Mia, Rebecca J and I went out onto the field to organise a game of football.
About 8 students came to play. Then Cody and I joined in and played with the students.
We gave a Pozi to everyone who came to play. I think the students enjoyed it because they asked if we were organising another game of football next week. So we told them that we would be on the field every fortnight. I think the game we organised was a good choice because the students didn't leave. Then we sat down and talked about the Pros and Cons of the game.

Kauri Swimming Sports
26 February 2015
Merit Evidence: Kauri Team Events, Get Involved
Yesterday I went to Jellie Park for the Funday. I entered event 7 and 17. I entered the width race because I'm not a really good swimmer. I was in heat 2 for both races. I came 1st for both races.
I won just by about 5cm. I got 20 house points for Kowhai. I enjoyed getting in the water and getting to compete against my friends. At lunch I sat with my friends and had my sandwich.
After lunch we had the relays. Then the Kauri team played a game, a game where you could get lots of house points. The game was 'which house can get the objects the fastest'.
Kowhai won and got 100 house points. I had a great time and I can't wait for next year.

At Technology and on the bus
17 February 2015
Merit Evidence: At Technology and on the bus
Today I went to Lincoln Primary School to do Technology.
My topic is sewing. I like using the sewing machines and learning to hand sew.
On the bus I was talking to the person next to me very quietly.
I enjoyed finishing my felt toy. When someone was talking to the teacher and needed to talk to the teacher I just waited at my seat. At morning tea I played football with my friends.
I also helped Connor and Alex with hand sewing their felt toy. I had time to practice sewing with the machine on a piece of paper and without the thread. I had a very good time and I hope I'll be using the machine with thread next time.

Merit Evidence: Peer Mediation
Today I have remembered to turn up to my Peer Mediation duty.
In my group I had Jack W and Emma D.
I enjoyed walking around the field and looking at the younger children play thier games.
Nobody came to us for help. We found a year 4 student named Gus who wasn't wearing his hat. So we reminded him to get his hat and if he didn't have a hat we told him to sit under the shade sails. But he didn't listen so I decided to go and tell the duty teacher.
The duty teacher told him to go sit under the shade sails because he didn't have a hat.
At about 10 past 1 I went to give the i-Pad to the next people.
I found them outside Room 25. After that I played football with my friends.
